If I were after one board to go travelling with, I’d opt for a high performance mid length- AKA the COLT. It’s as close to a one board quiver as you can get and was my reliable workhorse on a multitude of waves in Indo and at home.

Key elements include:

  • Continuous rocker curve so that it can be knifed into steeper waves and kept in the pocket

  • Double flyers to make for a narrow HP tail

  • Spiral vee for speed generation and release

  • A flat deck to carry out the volume

  • A beveled and neatly tucked rail

  • No unnecessary foam anywhere- just where it’s needed

  • Quad setup allows instant speed and drive

  • No nursing through turns that you might have to do on a midlength twinny

  • Super fast and drivey

  • Feels great through turns and off the top

*FOR REFERENCE I ride a 6’9 x 19 3/4 x 2 1/2- 38l  and am 80kg and 6’0 tall. I recommend TRUE AMES fibreglass quad set.
